This is a really good film. That is on my rewatch list. Just fun entertainment. One of the things I like, is the mayor. They set it up as a jaws sort of cliché, but they don’t let him remain a one dimensional character. It was nice to see people working together in a disaster.

Something I really don't understand in all these disaster films: why do all the dad's absolutely hate the boy their daughter is dating? Why do they lose their shit every time they find out the girl has a boyfriend? Why can't they be happy that their daughter is happy? Is this an American thing, that all American men arbitrarily hate all teenage boys? I'm assuming it's just another of the cliches the writers always put in these films.
