In 1998, Constantin Film set out to bring Resident Evil, the legendary horror video game, to the big screen. They enlisted George A. Romero, the visionary director who redefined the zombie genre, to adapt the project. But despite the perfect pairing of horror’s greatest minds, Romero’s vision for Resident Evil was never realized. Now, for the first time, Salisbury’s documentary uncovers the hidden story behind the project that captivated fans and the horror industry alike.

  1. I'm gonna go ahead and say it, is there anyone more overrated than Romero? Made a very average film in a new genre 50 years ago, now people worship him even though that genre has basically killed half of all horror creativity. Thanks George, for the laziest and most unoriginal genre in horror history.

  2. While Paul W. S. Anderson's Resident Evil does take some liberties with its source material such as Jill's badassery in Apocalypse and with Leon and Ada in Retribution I feel like Romero's version would've been better since the horror is there, including the action, especially since he was the godfather of zombies, I would've praised him had it been accepted.

  3. What a lost opportunity. It's frustrating how these things turn out often with video game movies. But after all the crap sequels and even worse Netflix show, i have more respect for the first Paul Anderson RE movie, it's really not that bad in retrospective. One of the first proper horror films i saw and it was really scary at the time. Of course i was only 13, but it made me a fan of zombie movies.

  4. Suck a click bait you think oh he did a movie and will see the trailer of it..then you realize no this is a no name guy trailer using romeo name and resident evil name hoping someone will get mistaken and go pay to see is crap .

  5. How disappointing. The way this was titled made it sound like it was a real movie, not a documentary about a movie that was never made.

  6. Watched it. It made me feel nostalgic in both the zombie movie genre and the resident evil franchise and at the same time more bitter, to be honest, that the resident evil films could have been so more in lined with the games and should've been much better overall to the spirit of the game franchise if George was hired to direct them (as evident from his TV promo of Biohazard 2). His written script stays true to the mechanics of finding certain items in order to progress the plot further. It's evident that George put his personal ego aside, even though he started the whole zombie genre, in writing the script and really studied the games & not took a lot of personal liberties, like Paul Anderson, as fans would want it. Closest thing we got is Welcome to Raccoon City but that only has the overall aesthetics and anything else is something that Paul would do with their so called, "Hollywood liberties". Now it's understandable why Hollywood & Capcom never really appreciated the man as the man knows better than both industry as a whole. Like I said earlier he started the genre, so he knows better where they're coming from.

  7. Until I saw it said "documentary" in the video, I thought this was gonna be a remake of Resident Evil done in a style Romero might've done

  8. You what's funny? I once said George Romero should direct a resident evil movie. That was before I even knew he actually attempted to make one just got cancelled.

  9. If we can get a proper Pokemon, Sonic and Mario (even though it's Chris Pratt), why the hell haven't we gotten a proper Resident Evil movie and not just a Hollywood, Netflix or somewhere else's rebooted version of it and not a true attempt at a proper Resident Evil movie in the style of George A. Romero more like the video game since they were literally inspired by the movies and all we have is that live action commercial Florida Universal show in Japan
