  2. Love this movie however I feel the rest of the movie doesn’t live up to the heights of this scene, once this scene happened I was hooked. Still love the rest of the movie this was definitely the peak of it though

  3. I LOVE the detail that you can stab or shoot these vampires point blank between the eyes, and it STILL won't kill them unless you pierce the heart or use sunlight. Carpenter went the extra mile to establish why the parameters for engaging the monster matter. They're not flexible and must be adhered to. It's quality world building, especially with the dialogue making multiple references to the rules the vampire hunters are trained under. Ex- "You can't kill a Master at night."

  4. The opening, ending here, came directly from John Steakley's book Vampire$. I was so pumped to hear John Carpenter was making this movie, and these opening scenes raised my hopes. Then, Hollywood happened. Carpenter for some reason radically diverged from the book and made an absolute mess of a movie. Still puzzled as to why they dropped the book for the resultant schlock.
