2. This movie is absolute trash, neither pieces of Lovecraft that Stuart Gordon combined to make Castle Freak involved any cult rituals. No necronomicon, no elder gods. Castle Freak 1995 was cool because it showed that true horrors can hide behind closed doors, and can be buried in family histories, a forgotten son, a wrathful mother projecting her hostilities on a reminder of a heartbreak and the greatest transgression she's ever endured. How resentment can drive a wedge in a family leaving the individuals vulnerable to an outside "malevolence". And the fact that that "malevolence" wasn't born that way but molded by the inherent battering and scorn shown to him. Castle Freak 2020, you've successfully taken a dump on my favorite B list horror film, thanks.
