14. This reminds me of a scifi short story where the kids are playing a game with their imaginary friends and each other. The are taking various things from the house. It goes on for days and a woman is talking on the phone with a friend on the other side of the country and in her neighborhood the kids are doing the same game. The story is told from the point of view of the mom. At some point she hears something that terrifies her and she hides. She hears the front door open and kids come in, but there is something larger walking in the house with them. Then the daughter opens the door to where she was hiding and says "Peakaboo" or "I found you!" I read this story decades ago and I think next to the "Sound Eater" it was one of the most chilling story. Edit: Found the story. Zero Hour by Ray Bradbury. For trauma you should read Sound Eater by Zena Henderson.
