From Luminant Media and director Brian Knappenberger, Turning Point: The Vietnam War offers an unfiltered look at one of the most defining and divisive conflicts in modern history and the profound, lasting impact it has had on America’s global identity and on the lives of countless people. Following in the footsteps of Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War and Turning Point: 9/11 and the War On Terror, this five episode docuseries showcases a war that was more than just a military failure; it was a political and cultural reckoning that reshaped America, exposed deep divisions at home and shattered trust in the government. With unprecedented access to CBS News archives, rare Vietnamese footage, declassified government records and previously unearthed White House recordings, the series spans nearly two decades and three different presidential administrations, amplifying often overlooked perspectives. As both America and Vietnam mark the 50th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon, Turning Point: The Vietnam War offers a timely exploration of how the war’s unresolved wounds, unlearned lessons, and enduring consequences continue to shape the world today.

We — the people of South Vietnam — were not passive spectators or victims waiting to be liberated. We fought for our own freedom, our own future. We were not perfect, but we were building something real. And when Saigon fell, it wasn’t a moment of liberation — it was the collapse of a free society. It pulled millions of us from hope into fear, from freedom into silence.
here’s nothing about the 'Vietnam War' here at all. Damn those guys—coming to destroy another country and then making movies that distort the truth. dcmm
USA cannot win war without allies..2 wars with england etc made them arrogant..thinking they would not lose lol
Why is it possible to make a film that distorts history like that? While the direct participants in that war were the people of the Republic of Vietnam, no mention was made and no interviews were given by the people of the Republic of Vietnam. the movie wants to hide the truth.
Resistance War Against America, please. Don't conceal the U.S's flagrant crime.
The U.S. caused immeasurable suffering: millions of lives lost, entire cities destroyed, and long-term environmental damage caused by chemical weapons like Agent Orange. These are flagrant crimes that should not be concealed or minimized.
Let’s not forget the historical facts and the sacrifices made by the Vietnamese people. The truth should always come first, not a whitewashed version of history.
It's really sad to see all these people in here brainwashed by the Communist regimes. If you notice, the invader has always been the Communists in these types of wars. They always picture themselves as the "good guys" trying to liberate the Democratic half of the country that lives in freedom.
1970 kent state
It's the Resistance War Against America, not VietNam War.
Vietnamese people never call it the 'Vietnam War' — we call it the "Resistance War Against America"
Of course no one ever puts any blame on the thing that causes these wars, Communism. The Soviet Union, China, North Korea, North Vietnam always get the pass and can take no blame.
after the world our generations are still in healing process!!!!!
Why do they choose the name Vietnam War ?
Bò đỏ với lũ bị nhồi sọ little pink nghe vn war chắc tức lắm😂 tại vì tụi nó đòi gọi là chiến tranh chống mỹ mới đúng tên mà 😂😂😂
Hey Netflix, If you don’t change the movie name, I would the fist member reject you. Peace !
I hope they show the TRUE picture, I don't want another FORD vs FERRARI movie
. Thân!
Ya'll folks lost and seriously need to get over it already 😂
Hi Netflix, as a Vietnamese, I find the title “The Vietnam War” misleading. This was not “Vietnam’s war”, it was a war of American intervention in a sovereign country. In Vietnam, we call it “The Resistance War Against The U.S Imperialists.”
Names matter. When history is told mainly from the viewpoint of the one who invaded, it risks silencing those who suffered the most.
If this series wants to highlight overlooked perspectives, it should start by respecting the truth and that begins with the name.
damn. our war is the resistance war against america to save the country. not the vietnam war.

Thua làm phim tài liệu, cái thằng bố chúng m nữa , VietNam war cái đầu b à
Please don't f this up "American" xD
you caused the war but call it VietNam war? ridiculous
Hi netflix please show this film for VNCH people first ( old regime people )
Documentary should be called: US atack over Vietnam
Why is it say Vietnam War when America is the country that occupied Vietnam, it should be say American War?
love this film
– This is not "the Vietnam War" . This is "The Resistance War against America for National Salvation."
– The United States and its mercenary coalition — including South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the Royal Thai Army, the Philippine military, and military aid from Britain — all took part in the invasion of Vietnam.
– The U.S. interfered in South Vietnam’s internal affairs starting in 1954 and established a puppet government named the Republic of Vietnam.
– The North served as the rear base for South Vietnam. The South had two governments: the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam (called "Viet Cong" by the U.S.) and the Republic of Vietnam. The main battlefield was in the South.
cannot believe that this series will available in April, 30, 2025, it can't be such a coincidence
Người Mỹ độc ác cỡ nào, thương đồng bào tôi 😢
Its called the American war, came to Vietnam to fight us and call us the war?
99% vietnamese comment
Đánh cho chết mẹ mấy thằng lồn ba que
This gonna be fun
The Ken burns documentary was excellent. Hope this is too.
How was it R8PING all of those women and children, WHITE PEOPLE? Pathetically pathetic…make it look like the white monsters are the victims while you completely and savagely launched a genocide against Vietnamese, even using biological weapons like Agent Orange. But yes, whites are the victims, as always.
I honestly hope this documentary will illustrate how horrifying the war was. I heard people talked about their experience and the story, how some Americans had felt for the lost and the destructions, but it would be so good if this documentary includes the whole perspective of the war from the Vietnamese people. Really put high hope in hearing the gut wrenching stories from Vietnamese, they had gone through a lot, which is usually underrated
From the Vietnamese perspective, it is never, and will never be, the "Vietnam War" — a shameless lie fabricated by American propaganda. This term is a deceitful narrative designed to distort the truth, making the conflict seem like an internal civil war, which is utterly illogical and false. If it were truly a "war in Vietnam," then why on earth did the Americans have to travel halfway across the globe and shed their blood on foreign soil? What kind of logic is there in a foreign power intervening in another country’s conflict, ravaging a nation and killing millions of innocent people? The real truth is this was a “Vietnamese resistance war against the US and its allies’ invasion.”
Thousands of American mothers mourn their lost sons, thousands of wives lost their husbands, and millions of children were left fatherless — all victims of lying, deceitful, and greedy politicians who spared no means to satisfy their imperial ambitions. And never forget, millions of Vietnamese people shed their blood and endured unspeakable suffering to defend their homeland, to protect their sacred freedom.
Stop calling it the “Vietnam War” — a cowardly, deceitful term that deliberately denies the true nature of the conflict, aimed at whitewashing the crimes and blatant aggression of the United States. Call it what history records it as: the heroic resistance of the Vietnamese people against imperialist invasion. No distortion, no denial, no concessions! .
We can forgive and be friend with American people who present all the greatest of a great country, but never think we forgot the past. We are no Ukraine.
It's not the Vietnam War, it's the war against America to save the country by the Vietnamese people. Let's get the history right.
Although the American lost the war
They’re still winning in milking netflix documentary type shi from vietnam
In Vietnam, we call it as THE WAR AGAINST THE US. You’re welcome! 😇
The United States were the most cruelest country, they're just the same as Japan, Germany or Soviets, they manage to onslaught Filipino to make the country a puppet state as they attempt in Vietnam which they fails
"hero is a lie"
