I always took to be more of a horror story, not an action packed goofy adventure… also, giving away the plot twist in the trailer is crazy
This movie looks hella cheesy. Like what is even the point of the movie?
As a reader of the book I disagree with this called The Electric State and why is there even a male protagonist invented and also played by Pratt? This is needed by anyone
Why bale though?
"Who throws a fridge…"
I still have no idea what this movie is going to be about, but I'm pretty sure I'm not curious enough to watch it. Even from my couch.
Completely missed the mark. A disgrace to the source material.
This does not even remotely match the tone, themes, or even general style of the book.
should have got nathan halpern back this looks like complete boo
Wow , they completely igonored what made the story great in the first place. It's an intimate tale of a girl trying to survive in a hopeless landscape littered with remnants of human lives consumed by technology and their addiction to it.
Hella hate in the comments 😂 it looks good to me 😅
1:24 I GOT THAT REFERENCE!!!
i don't know
genuinely impressive visual storytelling from just a few images to the default "adventure through a dystopian world" movie. and of course they had to get the typical name-you-know actors. i love chris pratt but can we please just have someone else for goddamn once?
in the original book there was nothing about robots needing freedom and they characterize michelle as some main character when she was originally just a rebellious teenager trying to find her brother. they also completely get rid of the twist at the end of the book which is one of the best parts. most of the original book is michelle remembering everything that happens before the story which not only fills you in on the plot but also builds up the narrative about her brother, i am disappointed in netflix
book: Amazing art and more subtle worldbuilding
trailer: chris pratt, classic rock song, and generic green screen
Geez a bunch of cold blooded critics here. It’s based off of a graphic novel, of course it’s cgi heavy. Hence the word “graphic”
hollywood uses playstation 2 for their renders
This looks like garbage
I know a Beeple movie when I see one
NONE OF THIS IS BASED ON SIMON STALSTALENS BOOK!!!!!!!
The love for Mindhunter here ❤
Everything about this feels so generic, down to the song dare I say….
I love the original art so much, and people are saying that this movie doesn't do it justice, I disagree. It should have never been made into a movie in the first place. The feelings that the electric state gives you can only be properly presented the way it already was. You can tell there is no love, no care for the message of the art, in fact this movie represents the very thing that the book was warning about, greedy corporations and useless consumerism. The budget should have been spent somewhere else.
I'm so torn. I love the look, and the book the art is taken from. There are genuinely creepy aspects, like all the people in vr helmets. If you toned down the action, and just had the characters explore and survive in the environment – that'd be perfect.
Seems like they took something and turned it into something it's not.
"Humans lost connection with each other."
Ah, so the exact opposite of what happens in the book. I get the feeling that the Russo brothers just looked at the pictures and made up their own story.
Oh noooooooo. Nooooooo Oasis, please no, no Oasis.
atomic heart movie
I’ll confess, I haven’t read the book, but the visuals I’ve seen were striking, the vastness and eeriness were uniquely unsettling and interesting. This just makes it feel…disappointingly full. Like someone set up plastic tables and chairs in a cathedral. Yeah, it’s still a nice venue, but it’s not treated with the respect it deserves
The tone of the trailer does not match the tone of the artwork
This is based on a book
WHY ARENT YOU GUYS GIVING THIS A PROPER THEATRICAL RELEASE? THOSE ARE MOVIE STARS YOUVE GOT IN YOUR MOVIE. FOR SHAME
Wow, this looks awful. The trailer makes it look like an Avengers film, between casting, explosions, bright colors and bad CGI, literally even down to the font. Really sucks to see this have none of Stålenhag's deep, atmospheric, and haunting atmosphere
No mention of Simon Stålenhag?
Wait, zero mention of Simon or all of this being based on his work? Lmao
She's really stuck with Netflix, isn't she?
