  1. I know this can't end on that ending. Every time I think about him 'mansplaining' as he's running out of the house screaming at his wife to stop. I just laugh and laugh at these two. Gosh! I deliberately worded this to avoid spoilers! Glad to see a lot of people avoided spoiling that ending. Wow. It's definitely worth watching, you'll never guess his "Well you see, what had happened was".

  2. I wonder if the creators wanted to say that the American foreign policy is run by a hysterical females with questionable hygienic habits and who unable to accomplish anything without a male?

  3. A few episodes into season one. Does her character ever stop with the over-acting, constantly angry, “I know I’m amazing but pick someone else to save the world” nonsense? The storyline is believable and not bad but a lot of the fast-talking dialogue is a little cliche, almost predictable. I mean is she ever gonna stop talking about how much she hates her husband? And the scene where she tackles him and tries to beat him up? Pretty silly. I think it’s targeting 20-30 y.o. poly sci majors (women mostly) who wanna see a tough-talkin woman who doesn’t need a man, but whom powerful men need to keep their impulses in check, cause of course she’s smarter than all of them. She’s like a female political action hero. I’d love it if it were clever but it’s not really. Good stories need subtext and rich dialogue. So far this one has neither. You need at least one likable character. And the main character can’t be overly annoying.

  4. Keri Russell must have spent time in DC because she absolutely nails the federal female with bland looks, bland pant suits, and bland all work personality. Acting at its finest.

  5. Great. A balance of subtle relationships paired with fast-moving plotting. However, whomever wrote the last 10 minutes of the Season 2 Finale. .. Come on. You had it right until the end when it became a roll your eyes how convenient moment.

  6. I was really looking forward to watching this show, but I'm in the third episode and it is sooo boring! The acting and writing are both good, but nothing is happening. I'm a big fan of shows like West Wing and The Americans, and movies like 13 Days and All the Presidents Men. I'm gonna give The Diplomats one more episode before I stop watching.

  7. What’s with so much fuss over her taking her clothes off, putting them on, selecting them, pinning her pants with a broken zipper, replacing her pants, taking them off to pee, ripping of a dress, and so on and so forth? Is it some kind of metaphor for how ill-fitted she feels in her role or is the character just plain sloppy? 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s so distracting from the flow of the story

  8. Season 1 was truly amazing. Fell for Kate the moment she stepped in on screen with her sassy comments and moves. (I thought she was bi…ngl). And then I really enjoyed her dynamic with Hal. She can’t get over him even if she’s so done with him. Work wise, she has a lot of respect and admiration for Hal and what he has done as an ambassador himself. But marriage wise, that relationship is sinking slower than the titanic. And then when the Foreign Secretary showed up…. Oh my gawd…. 🔥… Kate and Austin are truly great together and if it wasn’t for the bombing, their relationship would have gone to the next level.

I’m disappointed by how she treated Austin Dennison in S2. I really hope the writers will be able to balance the working relationship between Kate and Hall and the emotional relationship Kate and Austin have between them. Like there is so much unresolved sexual tension between them…even Stuart and Eidra see it.

  9. Season 1 was terrific. Season 2 had its moments but was sooo Hollywood: filled with the “F” word. Too bad Keri didn’t clean herself up bit. The unkempt look was aging. I almost don’t care about season 3.

  10. Never expected to like anything more than The Wire, but after season 2, here's my new list of best-written drama shows.
    1. The Diplomat
    2. The Wire
    3. The Sopranos
    4. Breaking Bad
    5. The Americans
And obviously a special mention to Band Of Brothers, which was a miniseries and not an extended series.
