From the producers of Neighbors and the co-screenwriter of Crazy Rich Asians, JOY RIDE stars Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Oscar® nominee Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu. The hilarious and unapologetically explicit story of identity and self-discovery centers on four unlikely friends who embark on a once-in-a-lifetime international adventure. When Audrey’s (Ashley Park) business trip to Asia goes sideways, she enlists the aid of Lolo (Sherry Cola), her irreverent, childhood best friend who also happens to be a hot mess; Kat (Stephanie Hsu), her college friend turned Chinese soap star; and Deadeye (Sabrina Wu), Lolo’s eccentric cousin. Their no-holds-barred, epic experience becomes a journey of bonding, friendship, belonging, and wild debauchery that reveals the universal truth of what it means to know and love who you are.

Also starring Ronny Chieng (Crazy Rich Asians), Lori Tan Chinn (Awkwafina is Nora From Queens), David Denman (Greenland), Annie Mumolo (Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar), Desmond Chiam (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Alexander Hodge (Insecure), and Chris Pang (Crazy Rich Asians).

  1. Loving the diversity! But we need to feature ALL our Asian brothers and sisters. So far these Asian American led movies are heavily Chinese, Korean, Japanese etc. no love for our all the Filipinos, Indonesians, Indians, Thai, Vietnamese, the list goes on. We are not just Chinese, Japanese, or Korean. 😅😅

  2. The appearance of Asians on screen always conforms to stereotypes. I don't know why, but as a Chinese who grew up in a small town in northern China, I believe that the cultural similarity between Chinese Americans and us is only 20%. What I mean is that people can easily confuse Chinese and Chinese Americans.

  3. Yeah show women of 2023 it's ok to be a degenerate more than ever before. Smh. Tbh i have a lot of respect for all asian culture and what It stands for. This is so blatantly trying to cunfuse young beautiful and respectable women of this era. Wow.

  4. Is everyone comparing it to Crazy Rich Asians because of the ensemble? The comment thread compares the two rather than commenting on the actual content (e.g. the realistic sound sex noises, having to put drugs up your crotch to get it into a festival or club, and/or internalized racism seen within her friend who were raised by white parents).

Because if anything, it’s more akin to your “true authentic friendship with the people who know your wild side with a tinge of social commentary without it being straight in your face” vibes and most people with solid relationships would relate.

  5. Couldn't stop myself laughing, me a 50 year old white man with my teenage son onboard. But it was a hoot for everyone in the cinema. There were 2 women in the audience that laughed for 5 minutes solid at one point, it was so hilarious. Recommended to all my friends.

  6. i just want who ever is planning to watch this.. you will cry within 5 mins and if you don’t you DO NOT HAVE A SOUL. this movie has a beautiful meaning and equally hilarious 😆

  7. This movie is treating those ignorant Americans who stereotype China as fools, literally fools. Even in Mexico or Columbia, there is no chance that police will just let drug sellers splash the drug all the train and let them go. And security check near the plane? Pass it by dancing? That's just an insult to a person of normal intelligence. This movie is nothing but using several Taiwanese, filmed basically in Vietnam, and combines Americans' daily life, and meeting stereotypes from the redneck and china haters. But I live in China, so to a certain extent, the more ignorant and arrogant Americans are, the faster the decline of the United States. So after viewing so many upvotes and applause for this movie, I just want to say, well done, Taiwanese in the United States.😉

  8. Just finished watching it I was honestly expecting it to be another typical boring woke 2023 comedy but it was honestly one of the most Hilarious movies I seen this year and actually had me interested all the way through. There is one part where they sing in the movie and that was cringe af but besides that 3 minutes pretty great movie

  9. This is the most disgusting film that native Chinese have ever seen, because none of the plots about China are true, not a single one! The followings are a few of them that are extremely disgusting:

    1. No one will say take my mouth and hold your balls, such words are not accepted by Chinese people, no matter men or women!

    2. No one in China has the name Dead Eye, which in China is called "trashing yourself", please remember that Chinese geeks don't self-depreciate!

    3. Chinese businessmen with Bluetooth don't necessarily come from Hong Kong, they can come from any province in China, I'm from the north-east of China, and I often wear Bluetooth and suits in airports, especially in Beijing International Airport.

    4. In a costume drama like "The Emperor's Daughter", the Chinese would not choose a fat actress like Kate as the female lead, let alone someone with straight eyebrows that are so unnatural as the male lead, for no other reason than the fact that such a person is too ugly for us to put on the screen.

    5. There are no pubs in China that sell buns, let alone Thousand-year drinks, or party slaps! It's true that Chinese customs are different from yours, but we're human beings too, with common likes and dislikes. So if Audrey's in the middle of a business negotiation in China, you can be sure that this business negotiation will NEVER be successful.

    6. Travelling from Beijing station is the plot that makes Chinese people feel the most uncomfortable and angry. First of all, China is one of the safest countries in the world, so we don't use cash, we don't lock our bags, and we don't have gymnastic farms. Instead, it's in the US where we have to watch out for burglars from time to time. Also, there are no food stalls in front of ANY high-speed train platforms, much less ANY high-speed train carriages where you have to find your own seats. All our train tickets are marked for you where you should sit, and if you don't sit in the right seat, you will break the law.

    7. Here comes the most outrageous plot, Chinese teenagers like to do drugs? WTF? Are you guys introducing yourselves? Do you know HOW MUCH WE DESPISE AND REJECT DRUG ADDICTS? Do you know that in China, if an American girl on a high-speed train pours out drugs like that, she will be arrested when she passes through the security check at the train station, and be executed and shot? Your former President Trump has said all these things, WHY DO YOU STILL TAKE WHAT HAPPENED IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY AND APPLY IT TO CHINA, THE COUNTRY WITH THE TOUGHEST DRUG CONTROL?
