A more plausible scenario would have been a clash between the ISS and the Tiangong.
Russia's attempt to land an unmanned spaceship, Luna 25, on the Dark side of the moon (lunar south pole) failed in a crash landing and the destruction of the payload. Russia is no force in space. This movie is for a scenario that doesn't exist anymore.
Twist, its not war but alien invasion.

This looks interesting. Although.. I think if I was up on the ISS I would immediately want to ask the Russians on board for a truce, because no matter what is going on down below you definitely can't stay on the station indefinitely, and whoever sends the rocket up first you're going to want to hitch a ride back down.
