  1. They both were absolutely excellent in their parts. I am new to Chaske and thought his acting was so incredibly natural, and I just fell in love with Emily. Her acting was tremendous. I've watched this series over 10 times. I love it.

  2. Chaske was stoic though strong and in control of his emotions at the same time. His deep masculine voice, his demeanor, and facial expressions just say everything without words. Only THE BEST actors can do this. That, combined with amazing Emily Blunt and her perfection in acting and you have a gut wrenching, edge of your seat, cheering for the 2 of them, wishing. Hoping. Pleading for their love to be known and shown to the world 😒 and THEN…..we found out why she couldn't give herself to him. God! Those 2 people SHOULD have been together forever. Their love came directly thru the screen and into my heart. That really hurt! That's how GOOD AND AMAZING these 2 actors really are! And all the supporting cast was SO GOOD and believable too! Some you love. Some you hate. But ALL GOOD. I just wish they had a happy ending….
I binged watched the WHOLE thing in 2 daysπŸ˜‚πŸŽ‰πŸ˜‚πŸŽ‰

  3. when they showed the turn-of-the-century title card at the end my heart jumped with hope…because lots of modern medicine was discovered around then and I thought MAYBE. Everything could get fixed!! But alas πŸ™

  4. I have watched the series three times already. I hope there is a season TWO showing what happens with Eli when he leaves for home. I loved this series. Whoever put the actors together chose the best for those parts.

  5. I just finished watching this, I hope it's possible they might make a second season????❀❀❀ Chaske's and Emily's acting was amazing, and their characters won my heart. Great acting from everybody, the bad guys were bad to the core, and the good guys just shone, especially Eli and Cornelia. And the end was so touching. I will be looking for these actors and director and writers to watch their work. And it's full of important stories.

  6. i find it weird how people can talk so nonchalantly about western films to chaske, the american indian wars was the biggest genocide in history that kinda gets brushed under the carpet.

  7. This is by far one of the best series I have seen in a long time and I tell everyone they must see it. Emily and Chaske are just electrical, the vibe between them is so great one gets caught up in it and the dialogue between them is nothing an English lady will have with anyone back home. So much meaning behind so few words

  8. This goes to my list of brilliant movies I sure would've loved to share with my late Pa.. he would have loved this. It's a BILLIANT movie is what it is. Emily has been one of my fave actresses since Princess Diaries and Chaske is my new crush.. hehe

  9. This is one of the best mini series I have seen in a LONG time. Brilliant acting and writing. Beautiful scenery. Probably a real account of how criminal the wild west really was.

  10. Outstanding mini series. You two made it real the connection, peeling the layers off to reveal so much depth. I want more…Chaske, you are a leading man! You eyes alone reveal so much.

  11. Like everyone said, this is the best tv program I have seen in a long, time. it’s so informative as well, and realistic . It’s really nice to see a real life love story and how sometimes you can love someone and still know that you will not be with them

  12. These two were wonderful and compelling, and I also want to praise the performance of talented Tom Hughes, who also showed a good blend of emotional pain and self-containment. Strong performance.

  13. By episodes four and five I wanted more scenes with this fantastic pair, but the screenwriters filled many scenes with some supporting characters in a kind of Coen Bros. grotesquerie style that felt far away from the powerful humanity of these two. I also wanted more and more Eli backstory. The final episode was so powerful, so moving. The last scene years later–no spoilers from me–also deeply moving and striving to show some respect for first nations and the mottled, tragic pageant of the history of the American West.

  14. 'The English' hits deep in the same way seeing Dances with Wolves did in the theater for the first time. I remember how a 3hr movie was so rare the talk of it was how it would be too long for people. But this was proven to not be true at all when a tale is so poignant and meaningful that it can literally make time stand still.

And that was true of 'The English' too. I was so pulled in I absorbed the full series of 6 episodes in one day. It hit so deep in my soul I felt gut punched at times and mournful at other times and completely always invested in the journey of the two main character souls that were clearly brought together by destiny.

Particularly moving is the tale behind Chaske Spencer character as the Native American Soldier Scout Guide. His is a story that needed to be told in all its' painful layering depths without polishing over or Hollywood glorifying that role in anyway. As was the ugly fact that the US had psychotic soldiers doing what we'd call today horrific 'war crimes'. All in the name of their military that was already often cold-hearted and unconcerned with the indigenous people as a whole. A truth we should never forget as there were too many different dishonorable situations within: the "clearing" of the land, the Native American children "schools" and the Native Americans that served the US military.

And through all of this heavy layering content, a clear love story builds in the most beautiful way between Chaske Spencer and Emily Blunts lead characters. The two of them alone carry you through with love in your own heart for them and the deep connection they discover in the power of being united through this journey.
