    "The first episode of Stranger Things was very dull. The characters seem to have lost their spark. Nancy’s father felt sidelined/defamed, and the military comes across as mediocre under the leadership of a scientist who, instead of fighting the monsters, prefers to hunt down the protagonist.
    
    Nancy’s mother is portrayed as broken by alcoholism, and the funny characters who used to lighten the mood were pushed aside to make room for identity politics. The show seems more focused on these agendas than on the actual fight against evil.
