    I laugh when the British & Americans call themselves Heroes who made sacrifices in their World War II narratives. They barely fought in WW2, especially in Europe, compared to Greece, Yugoslavia, and the Soviet Union, particularly the Red Army. Yet, they made a million war movies.

    I could never consider a US soldier a true soldier. I have immense respect for real soldiers who protect their families, defend their homes, and provide for them. To me, the US military uniform looks more like a costume or even a clown costume.

37. While the actors are good and the movie production is of good quality, the story is too simple. This movie is a bitter-sweet tragedy with a happy ending. The context of the war in this story is for the convenience of the story's setting – the same story could be set in any context, and has been done before in Westerns, in Sci-Fictions, in Romances, etc. The storyline is of a simple love duel where one inconsiderate and selfish guy does everything to take the girl away from the man she loves. The film's story has little value except to portrait the ugliness of an individual who will not give up until he has what he wants at the cost of what he loves – obstinate passion in its most unpleasant shape; the consequence is predicable as the story had to end with a note of sweet reunification. While the ending is pleasant, I was disappointed not to have learned anything about human psychology, nor watched individuals go through a personal learning journey. This is not a criticism against the actors who are really good or against the production of the movie which is of good quality. Rather, this is a criticism of the storyline which is too simple.

40. My expectations were coloured by having read the "Disney" comments before watching.
    I thought it was a great movie nonetheless.
    It's not the youngest Tom Hardy I have seen, I think, but probably the gentlest in some regards.
    And Captain Winters, or rather Damein Lewis, doing a Scotish accent is stranger to me than him with an American one, as I first saw him in Band Of Brothers, in which a young Tom Hardy appears, some four years before this (by release dates).
