I watched another documentary on this incident by kind of accident about a year or so ago. As an American I didn’t know this story. But it is devastating and showed that corporate greed is a terrible thing.
If you are in a disaster, dont worry netflix will make a documentary aboit it.

It’s absolutely criminal how many buildings in the country still have the same cladding. I asked my landlord if I could buy my flat and was subsequently told by my agency that i wouldn’t be able to get a loan because it had flammable cladding. I had no idea. Shocking that not only is it not law to fix the issue but not even to tell residents they are living in a dangerous building. I was told it’s only by law for buildings over 4 stories because (and I quote) “residents are less likely to die”.
They. Don’t. Care. About. Us.
This disaster was government permitted mass murder.
It was only a matter of time b4 netflix picked up on this. When I do eventually watch it I pray that all facets and all corporate crimes are examined , not just cladding & insulation. I hope the toxicity of the fire effluents on us residents is looked at, the trauma on our community and the incestuous relationships between politicians, local council and corporations. How many industries are implicated? Here are just a few: building industry, property developers, planning permissions, flame retardant industry, petrochemical building materials and removers of other toxic materials like asbestos. Red tape and cutting corners…the aftermath and all the NGOs & Non profits, even big legitimate organisations who profiteered from our misery and misfortune. And finally I pray that the viewers will see how the British Status quo is unstoppable , the impunity and the absence of JUSTICE 8yrs on illustrates the level of impunity for the rich and powerful in 21st century UK. Should I be managing my expectations of this doc?
Amazing how quickly the french rebuilt an old church but we cant clad a tower block safely (amd still can't). The world is sick when we prioritise bolloxs over people. Those who signed off the cladding should be in prison like the Post Office management but instead we get great TV dramas rather than actual justice. No wonder everyone is giving up, the rich are getting richer, we are ignoring a genocide and life's getting harder. If only we were as good at justice like we are TV dramatisations.
For anyone who’d like to understand, how this could have happened. I would urge you to read a book called, “show me the bodies” it is a book written by Peter apps. It exposes how a steady stream of de-regulation, corporate greed and institutional indifference caused this tragedy. This will have you in tears at how a community was forsaken by our government. I highly recommend.

I’ll never forget this horrific day.. it was as if the city was at a standstill after this tragedy and in the evening the whole community got together to help those that were affected!
I wish Netflix would for once make a non-netflix style documentary. They are all the same in style.

Negligence, indifference and council ineptitude caused individuals to co sign poor quality, flammable materials and ignore residents' repeated concerns/complaints/warnings.

It’s irksome and infuriating that not a single senior council executive has been prosecuted and charged. Those responsible should be in prison for gross misconduct.
