The Prom | Official Trailer | Netflix

The Prom follows Dee Dee Allen (three-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep) and Barry Glickman (Tony Award winner James Corden) who are New York City stage stars with a crisis on their hands: their expensive new Broadway show is a major flop that has suddenly flatlined their careers. Meanwhile, in small-town Indiana, high school student Emma Nolan (newcomer Jo Ellen Pellman) is experiencing a very different kind of heartbreak: despite the support of the high school principal (Keegan-Michael Key), the head of the PTA (Kerry Washington) has banned her from attending the prom with her girlfriend, Alyssa (Ariana DeBose). When Dee Dee and Barry decide that Emma’s predicament is the perfect cause to help resurrect their public images, they hit the road with Angie (Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman) and Trent (Andrew Rannells), another pair of cynical actors looking for a professional lift. But when their self-absorbed celebrity activism unexpectedly backfires, the foursome find their own lives upended as they rally to give Emma a night where she can truly celebrate who she is.

Directed by Ryan Murphy, The Prom is the spectacular, big-hearted film adaptation of the Tony-nominated Broadway musical. Screenplay by Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin.

  1. Hi my name is Preston Spencer and I dated constance McMillan about a year before all this happened. I was her high-school crush I guess but I dropped out and we started dating not long after that but eventually parted ways. I was embarrassed after I heard about the prom ordeal lol but whatever it gives me a good story to tell 😂

  3. there goes netflix again making movies abt these things to promote them without knowing the dangers of LGBTQ+
e.g: imagine trying to support women in women only competitons but a man enters it and wins bcause he's GAY!!!!!!!

  4. Emma and Alyssa should have been the protagonists instead of the broadway stars. The broadway people coming down and exploiting Emma's story for their own PR absolutely should have been an additional set of antagonists in addition to Alyssa's mother.

  5. I remember crying at the end because this whole movie was just so relatable on so many levels (not the whole 'prom getting canceled' part but rather the 'homophobic people make my life hard' part). People should really learn to start treating LGBTQ people like normal humans and not like people who are "odd" or "special".

  6. I know this is unrelated to the movie’s theme , but the very first line in this trailer is “Hello interweb” and I choked on my lemonade laughing the first time I heard that because “interweb” sounds like the funniest term to me🤣
