Adapted from the beloved literary classic, THE CALL OF THE WILD vividly brings to the screen the story of Buck, a big-hearted dog whose blissful domestic life is turned upside down when he is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Alaskan Yukon during the Gold Rush of the 1890s. As the newest rookie on a mail delivery dog sled team–and later its leader–Buck experiences the adventure of a lifetime, ultimately finding his true place in the world and becoming his own master.

As a live-action/animation hybrid, THE CALL OF THE WILD employs cutting edge visual effects and animation technology in order to render the animals in the film as fully photorealistic–and emotionally authentic–characters.

I believe "The Call of the Wild" will be the first movie to be produced under 20th Century Studios right after Disney dropped the "FOX" name as 20th Century FOX becomes as "20th Century Studios" and FOX Searchlight Pictures becomes as "Searchlight Pictures" with "Downhill" as their first movie. This is just to avoid confusion with FOX Corporation over the use of the "FOX" name.

    Originally, 20th Century FOX was started in 1935 as a merger between 20th Century Pictures and Fox Films.

  17. Here's an interesting fact: The original Call of the Wild movie, which stars Clark Gable and Loretta Young, was produced by 20th Century Pictures in 1935. It was the last film under the 20th Century banner before it's merger with Fox Films later that year. Now, fast forward 85 years later, the new version of Call of the Wild will be produced under the new name 20th Century Studios. Talking about going full circle.
