For a second I thought this is a movie about Heavens Gates cult..
Just got the blu-ray and watched it. Impressive. Reminded me of "The Endless" but very original also. Definitely cosmic, trippy and hippie, just my kind of scene. Loved that Klaatu's classic hit, "Calling Occupants" was central to the movie. I also liked the music from MGMT also. Wonderful location shots and very nice effects. The only thing that I didn't like was some of the background music which was too much like a soap opera and had such a downer vibe that accentuated the fact that the film could have had a few balancing lighter moments which is endemic to modern cinema. Overall, my favorite new film in a while and one that Tim Leary would probably have dug.
My first look at Jefferson Moneo – just watched this film last night and it is surprisingly fresh and candid.
Always interested in sci-fi, and alien, entries and prepared to go that little extra, off the beaten path, for something new. First thing, however, to put me off obscure productions, five minutes in, is bad acting but – this little "trip" holds its own.
Film is a about a woman who, after experiencing a traumatic event as a young girl, joins a kooky extra-terrestrial cult.
A B-film with an almost-Indie vibe pushing Hollywood production quality, in terms of acting, script, filming, location, editing, etc. carries steady tone and beats throughout, with very little wasted reel in the final cut – clearly Jefferson has a solid grasp of his craft and the subject matter, addressed in such a way that gives viewers the opportunity to make up their own minds and rationalize plausible explanations.
In IMDB, I read Jefferson's bio which is pretty interesting(not sure if the guy takes himself seriously or not, lol): bio says, as a child, he was abducted by aliens and that his ancestors knew Sitting Bull. Based on this film, I'll bet he has also forayed into the use of psychedelics.
Definitely a niche subject but if you've got a bit of time to relax with a cuppa and examine some cultural phenomenon, give it a try.
Will be looking into more from Jefferson.

On the one hand, this had the visuals that I anticipated (And wanted) purely from the title alone, so that's a plus.
On the other hand, it looks little poor in terms of acting/editing.
