Why maan was never good choice for Lata, even though they were good friends?
The story line is good, but did the society which shown here of 50s like kissing in public places or the ladies were too bold. I don't think so.
ishan khatar as a actor in this, this is really funny ๐คฃ
One of best series. Loved it.
This web series was one of the best things I have seen in long time. If India is She and it ever drops her face veil it will look exactly like the excellent scenes, story and brilliant adaptation of the novel presented in this series. I think most of Indians know a Lata in their lives. The fusion of Galib and Daag shers into music of Anoushka Shankar is mind blowing. After watching this series I started to write poetry again which I had paused from few years. It just touched something inside me.
Loved the movie! (:
I became totally absorbed in the movie, which led to not only reading the very long novel, but also exploring other Indian films and books. I discovered Rabindranath Tagoreโs wonderful writing. I also found the music very beautiful and haunting in the movie. So all in all I have become much more aware of and educated about Indian culture. Thank you !
Watching the series now. Very dramatic, dragging and unnatural in many ways. Can't believe that this one is from Mira Nair, who gave us Monsoon wedding
One of my favourite show in Netflix. So well taken n presented.
Loved every frame of this celluloid adaption of one of my favorite book and I must say the very soul of the book was so well intact through out all 6 episodes..!! I was wondering how it could be possible to do justice, in mere 6 episodes, to so many characters from multiple families, their interwoven lives and chemistry with each other and so much happening around them on social and political canvas of the country at that time..but I must say this mini series is crafted with razor sharpness with every single frame conveying so many facets and layers of story and constructed so beautifully like a painting, with subtlety of poetry..!!
I already watched it twice and probably will watch again too, absorbing and observing very many minute details conveying so much about the people, their lives, their relationships, the places, the mood and the history of a new independent India so authentically!!
Loved how the first scene starts with Lata eating guava, all by her self living her own moments, engrossed in her own thoughts and dreams and the very last scene also the same way at a different place after a few years..she had grown and moved on toward her own chosen path the same way the newly independent India had moved during that time frame..!!
It's the best!
After watching any series forget easily but this series moving in mind every time such a lovely story screen play tragedy music everything are perfect
Though it could ve been lot better in many ways, love it for what it is.
Mikhail Sen is a refreshing change from the chocolate boy hero types… hope to see him more!
Very good series, and Mira Nair's director incredible
I really liked the story but every indian character speaking English is a big turn off for me.
So beautifully pitcherised the characters..
Tanya maniktala is full of good vibes๐ !!
It shd have been longer
why rasheed's character is ended up like this? I'm thinking over and over again of rasheed and his(yes vijay varma's) eyes.
waiting to watch it through netflix in INDIA.
I LOVE VIKRAM SETH'S NOVEL, AND LOVE MIRA NIAR.
Chutia Nair Vatican fraud

Nice series if you are interested in post independence Indian social history
Doesn't it look artificial when Indian languages make an almost homogeneous appearance in the series? Like why is everyone speaking in English? and if it is to make the series for a larger audience, why the mother of Pran and Mann Kapoor isn't? In the current days of subtitles, it felt a bit outdated while all the non-English/partial English spoken series are creating their mark on their credit in the global audience, for example, Ramy or more commercially appreciated La casa de Papel, Dark etc. 1950s India with almost everyone speaking English all the time felt unconvincing, distracting!
This ended wayyy too quickly T_T
Why so many good actors were wasted ?? Randeep Hooda was nothing but a prop.
awesome seriesโค๏ธ
Such a pleasure to watch this series.Actors are very talented and make it so real.
At a point you just notice that this was made for a white audience
Apart from Netflix where v can watch the suitable boy
How can I watch in India?
๐ Mira Nair and her films
Deepa Mahta….Nandita Das and Gurinder Chadha too….
Am I the only one that thinks that Mira Nair, the director looks like Sima Aunty.
It really works so far the novel is beautiful and the TV show reflects that. It could have been multiple series though. Glad Mira Nair is as passionate as us fans of the novel.
You had better do it justice! ๐๐
I apologise but I donโt like how Rupa Mehra plays out n the series. Iโm sorry.
We could do more with more Mira Nair content!
I am sorry..but the book is a piece of my heart for almost forever now…so maybe that's why I can't deal with the liberties Mira has taken while filming and this sadly appears unconvincing to me whatsoever!!!
Wasnโt Lata supposed to be darker??
When it will release in our country INDIA
Ishaan khatter is amazing as maan kapoor ๐
Shame the first two episodes have been so rubbish!! The acting is awful!! So over the top. They made it so boring!!
How to watch this movie
Who wrote this subtitles ๐คฃ๐๐๐.. They wrote UP (uttar pradesh) as you pee.. Oh God.. LOL.. ๐คฃ๐๐๐
