  1. Bretman rock said in an award acceptance speech that he never felt like there was a lack of representation because if he didn’t see someone that looked like him on tv he’d change the channel. Making Barbie black and riding on her coattails is so patronising. Why not make a doll that’s already black from it’s inception? There were already diversity in dolls before “coloured” Francie. Stop making a problem out of nothing.

  2. i grew up in the era of bratz dolls, there was a notion around barbie that she’s “dated” now. i loved bratz growing up because they had 4 main characters, 3 being women of colour, and the character sasha was my girl growing up! there was a joke in my family that “sasha’s my best friend she just doesn’t know it yet.” i think that was one of the first times i saw characters which looked like me, and the women in my life. unlike barbie, who’s predominantly a white woman with blonde hair, and her friends who are women of colour are sort of side characters, bratz had a variety of beautiful characters, most being women of colour, and even writing this now i wanna get more bratz dolls as an adult 😂

  3. When I was a little girl, I always wanted an black or mixed barbie girl. Here in the Netherlands we didn't have what America have. Now I give my daughter an brown, black, white, red and every colour type of Barbie. She have an collection of all Barbies and she loves every Barbie. I learn my daughter that everyone is beautiful the way they are. Allah/God❤ make everyone different because we can learn from eachother❤

  4. if you are under 40, you are full of shit. I had tons of black dolls growing up and they were hard to come across because demand wasn't there…and that was because black mothers weren't actively seeking them out…mine was.
the only complaint i have is that they pretty much only come in a single skintone.
that said, i can't bitch cause i don't come in a single skintone – i got my first burn in college and had to be told what it was – to quote BFF – that is the weakest sunburn i've ever seen.
on a side note, being black doesn't mean no sunscreen, it means i put on one coat of spf 45 and i'm good til i shower

  5. Growing up I always thought the brown hair dolls were the best. I had brown hair and thought “that one looks like me! She’s my favorite”. I loved Barbie’s but I loved bratz diversity more. Yasmin and sasha were my favorite 🥹💖

  6. My older sister had the "Barbie and the Rockers"' set when I was a kid that's when i first saw a black Barbie AND Ken! They were all in the group they had a stage and all😭😭

  7. if u wanna a black barbie u should make them without too much hair..u know …and …yea …not racist but a fact…u are the strong race but nothing beauty about :))

  8. “Damage done”. Lady, you are wearing some of the nicest clothes I’ve ever seen on a woman. What damage.? Y’all are in the Olympics for god sakes. Swing your fists at someone else.

  9. I never owned one as a child and then I didn’t want one- however the Cabbage Patch dolls I loved and I got a premy finally and maybe I bought it however I bought my oldest and my baby girl 100 Barbie’s each- a collection

  10. Barbie's original design was based on a German adult gag-gift escort doll named Lilli, not a dentist or a surgeon, an Olympian gymnast, a pet stylist or an ambassador for world peace. And she certainly wasn't a toy for little girls. A sex doll with idealized features actually negatively impacts young girls' self-perception and body image.
