Best friends, Amanda and Alan take on a project of a lifetime in the sun-kissed hills of rural Sicily. In a bid to breathe new life into forgotten towns, Italian municipalities are selling empty homes for one euro. Fulfilling a long-held ambition, Amanda purchases two dilapidated apartments in picture perfect Salemi and convinces best friend Alan to spend a summer renovating them, with the aim to create an Italian dream home – the money from which will be donated to charity. Arriving at the crumbling property for the first time, seeing the piles of rubbish and abandoned junk, it dawns on them that this is no holiday.

  3. Many Congratulations to both Amanda and Alan for the most uplifting, interesting, amusing and inspirational series in a long
    time and we binged watched many episodes! With all the doom and gloom on the news it was just so enjoyable, refreshing and a joy to watch! They both worked so hard but it was also great to 'go with them' to beautiful areas in Sicily when they took time off to go on trips to wonderful potteries, vineyards, restaurants etc. Their hard work and that of Scott and his team really paid off as the end result of restoring the 2 1 Euro houses is rewarding and stunning. We hope they will do another series renovating houses in Italy together very soon. We highly recommend it! Thank you.Christina and Nick, Crediton, Devon UK.
