One has to give Warner Bros some degree of credit for green-lighting Mickey 17. Easily the most lavish movie of director Bong Joon-ho’s career, it’s the kind of original, audacious sci-fi we rarely see on the big screen anymore. The fact that it doesn’t entirely work is almost beside the point, as stuff like this so rarely gets made; the fact that it’s getting released at all feels like some kind of a miracle. However, it also can’t be denied that this uneven, bizarre film seems more likely defined for cult status than mainstream success.

You noticed the weird shifts in Naomi Ackie character too? I thought I was the only one.
The sound design of the aliens in Mickey 17 is next level. It’s strange, unsettling, and completely fascinating all at once.

Great review. I think an excellent piece of work when viewed from a distance. In certain scenes, it would have been much more realistic if the baby creeper had been animatronic rather than CG. The monster in "the host" was actually a real puppet model in certain scenes.
now thats what i call not "dumb" ways to die
example
he breathe in space, most likely imagining if there was microbes viruses dust
he died by lefting blood on his head
Orange man bad
Joon-ho still champions underdogs. This doesn't look as good as Snowpiercer, but I want to see it.
Once again Bumbray overthinks and pulls a Gene Siskel.
I give it a 17 out of 20.
So, another flop for WB? Damn, hope they get out of the rut, I want an entire phase one of the new DCEU in the least. 😂
Chris' review sounds exactly how I felt about The Host. That's the film that introduced Joon-ho to international audiences but I had mixed feelings about it. I'm seeing this one on Friday, I don't have high expectations but hopefully it will be entertaining.
