4. This new Netflix series “”The Leopard” looks promising. I’m not very familiar with the 186O Italian Unification Risorgimento so the setting should be very interesting.

6. It's easy to forget that this book is relatively modern, and that Giuseppe di Lampedusa profoundly admired English literature, to which this novel was something of an homage. The book is extremely witty, and saturated with an ironic sense of loss. I hope the series captures some of that, and isn't just romance, shooting, flags and gorgeous fountainy gardens.

25. Another remake which hopes to replace the ambiguity of history, and cinematic intricacy and strength with superficial platitudes that correspond to acceptable current norms.
    The cast of the original features Alain Delon who will be remembered as one of the most mesmerizing faces on screen, and Burt Lancaster is unmatched for projecting depth, power and complexity with just his body language and facial gestures. The lush set design uses the genius of Italian artistry and the beauty and symbolism of color and allows the viewer time to absorb a hundred details in each scene. (I wonder if Netflix will dare to include the “toilet” scene from the ball.)

32. This will not come close to Visconti's masterpiece, but at least it could cover the entirety of the novel.

33. I don't know. The 1963 film directed by Visconti and starring Burt Lancaster (his voice dubbed quite well while the rest of the cast was Italian) is absolutely a masterpiece of filmmaking. Seeing the trailer of this new adaptation, reminds me just how truly great that older film is. I'd watch that first before watching this (never mind reading the book, also very good)
