  1. My favourite scene in this show was the one where the inmate meets the parents of the lad he stabbed. It perfectly encapsulated that taboo of the parents of a murdered son seeing him as an absolute angel who could do no wrong. No one ever deserves to be stabbed, but that's the point, if he wasn't being such a dick he'd still be alive. Because terrible people are out there. Call it victim blaming all you like, but had he not acted the way he did, he'd still be alive. He fucked around and he found out.

  2. Such. great series. I particularly liked the scene where the inmate meats the parents of the lad he stabbed and killed. It perfectly encapsulated that taboo of the parents who think their son's an angel no matter what. No one ever deserves to get stabbed, but he brought it entirely on himself. He fucked around and he found out.

  3. As a 40 year old who has been and out of UK jails for 25 years I can tell you that this is the most accurate portrayal of UK jail I have ever seen put to screen. They literally got everything right, down to the tiniest details. They must have had some real good help to get it this good. I just watched it and was blown away by how true to life it was. A drama like this should scare a lot of kids into staying on the right path because everything that happens to this character ive seen happen to others. This should be played at schools.

  4. This show helped me stop drinking. This story showed me that prison wasn't the worst thing. Guilt is the worst. Prison you can get done with. Guilt can be forever. I'll be sober three years in May 2023. Thank you to everyone who helped make this show.

  5. Sean Bean and Stephen Graham are always at the top of their game. Jack McMullen is fast becoming a name to look out for. He is just getting better all the time. I look out for anything these 3 are staring in. You know it's going to be good!

  6. I did a 4.5 yrs and kept a journal but after release realised no one was particularly interested so didn't bother to complete it…..this series is a as close as I've seen to how it is…..well done……impressive

  7. Spoiler alert: so Bean plays a moron, first kills a cyclist drunk driving. Then turns himself in, goes to prison, wife divorces him then he agrees to help a drug dealer and doesn’t hold his end of the bargain and gets beat badly because of it. So many life failures because he was honest.

  8. Only just watched this. It's almost like Shawshank, but without the fantastical ending.

Absolutely amazing! Brilliant writing, fantastic performances by the actors.

There were bits you could see coming, like the one who was gay and swapping of circumstances. But the ending was beautifully tragic

  9. Stephen Graham rightly getting the plaudits in the comments, but what a performance by Sean Bean too. I felt like he represented the Everyman so well. You could feel his nerves, intimidation and confusion at every step.
